With an emphasis on sustainability, this theoretical design transforms the Georgetown West Heating Plant into an apartment building and neighborhood park space. The design preserves the historical exterior facade by using a cross-laminated timber in-fill system for the 96 units of rental housing. Seven new townhomes relate the site back to the existing scale of the neighborhood. A 24 space below ground parking lot in addition to an on-site ZipCar lot and bike storage, limit the traffic and parking impact of the redevelopment.
